Explanation of Farsijana’s painting: Christ is risen, restoring the integrity of creation!

Today is Easter. Christ is risen, and I painted Christ’s resurrection from the sea, merging with the green trees. Bernie and I shared communion on Maundy Thursday at our church in Yogyakarta. Easter is a blessing from the Lord Jesus to me because, during Passion Week, I reflected on Jesus’ journey to death, supported by the universe. A mournful nature welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem. The people welcomed Him. Tree branches seemed to offer themselves to be laid across the road as Jesus rode past on a donkey. But I am not Jesus; I conveyed my feelings of inadequacy and emotion before the congregation when I began preaching on March 29, 2026, a Sunday afternoon, as described in the newsletter. A long red carpet stretched from the entrance, with palm fronds draped across it, leading to the pulpit. Who am I? The question is the same as those who ask: “Who is this man?” (Matthew 21:10c). The congregation decorated the church beautifully, and I was there, on the pulpit, to explain the connection between Jesus being triumphant in Jerusalem, Palm Sunday, and the mourning nature. This was the theme given by the Synod of the Javanese Christian Church and the Indonesian Christian Church. So the experience grew within me until Easter, when I painted the joy of the universe welcoming the resurrection of Christ, which began with pain, as nature would give birth to Christ again in His resurrection as a sign of the Father’s omnipotence. In this resurrection, all the beauty of the universe appears in the depth of its presentation with colors that bring Christ’s resurrection to life. Happy Easter. Thank you so much for walking with Jesus Christ in God’s ministry in Indonesia to restore the integrity of God’s creation.
